CRA review letter

What is a process review letter and what do I need to do with it?

Receive a process review letter from the CRA? Send a scanned copy to us — we can handle it.

Most commonly referred to as a CRA audit, these letters are confusing and hard to follow. We see them all the time and know how to make the difficult review process a breeze.

There are a number of reasons why you get these letters. Sometimes it is random, sometimes it is an income or expenses that they want to look more closely at. Oftentimes they just want to see your receipts and paperwork to see if it is reasonable — don't get overwhelmed.

We'll take a look at the letter, figure out what they want to know, and then piece together what we can from your records and submit the required documents to the CRA as requested.

There is almost always a 30-day timeline to respond to this CRA letter, so treat these with a high level of urgency.

These reviews are the reason why you need to keep your records for seven years.
